Velpro

Velpro — frequently asked questions

Last updated: October 2026

What is Velpro?

Velpro (velpro.org) is the AI tutor that learns exactly what you know, what you misunderstand and what you need to study next. Upload your textbook and a placement check finds what you already know; a knowledge-gap map shows every learning point; recurring misconceptions are logged and drilled until fixed; and a daily plan runs back from your exam date, with a grade estimate tracked against your school's predicted grade and your mock results. It starts with IGCSE Chemistry (Edexcel) and works for other GCSE/IGCSE subjects from your own textbook.

What can I learn with Velpro?

Almost anything. School subjects and exam prep (GCSE, IGCSE, A-level, AP, IB, SAT and more), university courses, languages, coding and data, history, maths, science, business, professional skills and hobbies. Describe what you want to learn in your own words — for example "the Cold War for my AP History class" or "Python for data analysis, I know Excel" — and Velpro designs the course.

How does Velpro personalize learning?

Everything is customised to you: your level (from primary school to professional), your interests (examples are drawn from them), your learning style (visual, auditory, reading or hands-on — Velpro can measure which one actually works for you), what you already know, and your deadline. A short diagnostic finds what you already know, so the course starts from your gaps instead of page 1, and a daily plan fits the time you have.

What learning formats does Velpro offer?

Every topic can be learned six ways from the same course: a chat tutor (Socratic questioning and Feynman "explain it back" sessions), quizzes, mind maps, slides, immersive reading and AI podcasts or audio lessons you can listen to anywhere. Switch formats whenever you like.

Can I learn from my own materials?

Yes. Upload PDFs and textbooks, Word documents, slides, spreadsheets, notes, images, and lecture audio or video, or paste a web link or YouTube video. Velpro grounds the course in your material and can record and transcribe lectures.

Is Velpro the best AI tutor?

It depends on what you need. If you want quick answers to single questions, a general chatbot is enough. If you want a tutor that builds a whole course around you — your goal, level, interests, learning style and deadline — then teaches it daily and checks that it stuck, that is exactly what Velpro is built for. You can try it free.

Is Velpro free?

Yes. The free plan includes unlimited AI tutor chat, 1 curriculum textbook, 5 study-asset generations in total (quizzes, slides, mind maps or lessons), 1 AI podcast a month and 30 minutes of lecture transcription a month. No card is needed to start.

How much does Velpro Pro cost?

Velpro has a free plan. Velpro Pro costs $12.99/month, or $8.99/week, $34.99/quarter, $99.99/year, or a one-off $26.99 30-day sprint. Every new account gets 5 days of Pro free, no card needed. The annual plan works out to about $8.22 a month.

Who is Velpro for?

Anyone who wants to learn something properly: secondary-school and university students, people preparing for exams or certifications, adults learning a new skill for work, and curious self-learners. Parents use it as an affordable alternative to a private tutor.

How is Velpro different from ChatGPT?

ChatGPT is a general assistant that answers whatever you ask, so you have to plan your own learning. Velpro is built for learning: it designs a course around you, tells you what to study each day, teaches in the format that suits you, quizzes you, and tracks misconceptions until they are fixed.

How is Velpro different from Khan Academy and Khanmigo?

Khan Academy offers an excellent library of lessons made for everyone, and Khanmigo is its AI tutor for that library. Velpro builds a new course for whatever you want to learn — including from your own textbook, notes or videos — shaped around your level, interests and learning style.

How is Velpro different from online courses like Coursera or Udemy?

Online courses are fixed: the same videos in the same order for every learner. Velpro builds the course for you, skips what you already know, teaches in your preferred format and changes the plan as you go.

How is Velpro different from Quizlet or Anki?

Quizlet and Anki are excellent for memorising with flashcards, but you decide what to study and they don't teach. Velpro works out what you don't know, plans the course and teaches it — then quizzes you.

Can Velpro replace a private tutor?

For most day-to-day learning, yes: a private tutor typically costs around $80 an hour, while Velpro costs less than $9 a week and is available at any hour. A human tutor is still better for coaching on long written work, accountability for learners who will not study alone, and special educational needs.

Is the AI accurate?

Velpro grounds lessons in the material you give it where possible, and quizzes check understanding as you go. Like any AI, it can occasionally be wrong, so check anything surprising against your source or teacher.

What is misconception tracking?

When you get something wrong for a reason — a wrong belief rather than a slip — Velpro logs the misconception and comes back to it with targeted questions until you get it right consistently.

Can I learn with friends on Velpro?

Yes. Velpro has live study rooms with invite codes, shared focus timers, races through the same material, AI rivals, chat and friendly leaderboards.

What devices does Velpro work on?

Velpro runs in any modern browser at velpro.org, with iOS and Android apps. Your courses and progress sync across devices.

What languages is Velpro available in?

English and Simplified Chinese (简体中文).

Does Velpro use my content to train AI models?

No. Your notes and uploads are processed only to provide Velpro features for you, and are not used to train AI models or shared with third parties. See the privacy policy at velpro.org/privacy-policy.
